Softball season wrap up

Wilson’s softball team was largely successful in the 2018 spring season, winning the DCIAA championship in the beginning of May with a 10-0 win against Bell Multicultural High School. The team had its doubts early on in the season, having to move some players out of their usual positions to fill different roles, and bringing in many players who were relatively new to the sport. Nonetheless, they won all of their conference games, with one of their freshmen, Brooke McKalip, having a breakout year as the starting pitcher. Junior captain Emma Jacobson has also earned a nomination for the Gatorade Player of the Year award for her performance and leadership skills. In the DCSAA tournament, the team lost 12-1 to Georgetown Visitation in the second round, following their 11-1 first round win against Washington Latin.
