Starting quarterback transfers to DeMatha
February 13, 2019
After a stellar Junior season, starting Quarterback Malakai Anthony decided to take his talents to DeMatha Catholic High School to finish out his high school career.
Following a Freshman year of being mentored by quarterback Stevie Williams, who now plays for Old Dominion University, Anthony transferred to St. John’s College High School for his Sophomore year only to return back to Wilson the for his Junior year.
Anthony led the Tigers to an eight-win regular season but unfortunately lost to Ballou in the quarter-finals of the DCIAA playoffs. As a dual-threat quarterback, he finished the year with 1,500 passing yards, 500 rushing yards, and 20 total touchdowns. His talent earned him an invitation to the Nike Elite 11 Regionals, a quarterback camp for top local prospects. Anthony was also named Second Team Quarterback for the DCIAA Stars Division All-League team.
In a recent twitter post, Anthony said, “Thank you, Tiger nation for your tremendous support … Nevertheless, after deep thoughts and considerations from my family and I, it is in my best interest to announce that I will be transferring to DeMatha Catholic High School (MD).”
We wish Anthony best of luck as he pursues his academic and athletic goals.
