While everyone is home social distancing, it’s the perfect time to relax, kick back, and binge watch! Here are some TV shows that will keep you hooked.

Pose (FX) – Set in 1980’s New York, Pose tells the stories of black and latino LGBTQ+ youth who come to the big city in hopes of finding a community that accepts them. This ‘dramedy’ captures the stories of the LGBTQ+ community in the underground ballroom and vogue scene, tackling issues such as racism, gentrification, and the AIDS epidemic, all while showing the glitz and glamour of ballroom. Pose is the perfect balance of humor with drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat each episode and will make you want to come back for more. 

The Chi (Showtime) – The Chi, created by Lena Waithe, is a ‘dramedy’ that follows different perspectives of people living in Chicago, Illinois. The characters are linked by one situation—the murder of Charles “Coogie” Johnson. The characters balance work and school, all while trying to escape the difficulties in their personal lives. The constant drama and cliffhangers make you wonder what will happen next. With there being so many storylines, it is exciting to see how their stories unfold. 

Grown-ish (Freeform) – The spin-off from Black-ish follows the life of the eldest daughter, Zoey Johnson, and her new college life. Coming into adulthood, she quickly learns that being grown is not as easy as she thought. Zoey juggles school, relationships, and finances with the support of her friends. Grown-ish has been categorized as a new, modern take on “A Different World,” and is a great show to binge over your spring break. Grown-ish is a great balance between humor and drama, which sets it apart from other teen dramas, and always leaves you wanting to watch more. 

Atlanta (FX) – Atlanta, created by Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino), follows Earn Marks, a broke Princeton dropout who is struggling to improve his life and take care of his daughter. He tries to gain success managing his cousin, who happens to be a rapper under the stage name “Paper Boi”. Together, they and their friend Darius deal with social and economic issues. Atlanta can be random or odd at times, but that’s what makes it funny. Take your time binging this show, as the next season does not come out until 2021.
