Lontrell Denwel Williams Jr., aka Pooh Shiesty, is poised to have a breakout year. After being signed by Gucci Mane into a life-changing contract, the Memphis rapper got right to work. 

Signing with one of the most iconic rappers from the last decade meant that Pooh Shiesty had to show Gucci Mane that he didn’t make a mistake. In 2020, Pooh Shiesty became known for his singles, and from there gained followers and fame. Songs like “7.62 Gold,” ”Who Is Him,” and “At It Again” started to receive attention, and these songs instantly became a banger for Pooh Shiesty, boosting his confidence and recognition around the rap industry. 

The rapper himself has also had some success outside of Memphis, collaborating with top-tier artists like Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and Moneybagg Yo. Pooh Shiesty is proving that his potential is something special that could lead to other more significant accomplishments. 

What really makes the rapper special is his contagious flow, energetic tone, and soulful lyrics. Pooh Shiesty’s versatility on any beat makes him a great star, along with his rhythmical bars that he brings to his music. 

His recent song with Lil Durk titled “Back In Blood” is a simple song––a strange piano loop, strong drumbeat, and a repetitive hook about retribution. No doubt, the song is a hit, hitting the Top 10 songs on the Billboard charts a month after it was released. Flaunting Shiesty’s lyrical and flowing versatility, the hit till this day remains on the Billboard and other music charts 

Shiesty’s mixtape titled “Shiesty Season” dropped February 5, 2021, and it became a sellout in its own right, debuting number four on the Billboard with 62,000 album units in its first week. The debut mixtape has proven that Pooh Shiesty could soon take over the rap industry, as it also claimed number five on Apple Music, spending a total of three weeks atop this chart. The mixtape wasn’t the best, but overall the discography helped elevate the album’s value. The mixtape needs more features so he can gravitate more attention. Along with diverse and more complex beats, he could switch up his tone.  

The rapper is only 21 and has time to learn and develop his rap game, but in the meantime, he’s going to have to keep working hard if he wants to become well known regionally and around the world. Don’t be surprised if you see Pooh Shiesty being named the next prominent artist and or being showered with awards. The young rapper from Memphis isn’t even at his peak yet, and shows long-term promises for his future career.
