As the leaves turn brown and the weather grows colder, time in the pool and sun is replaced with cozy relaxation indoors. So while you’re snuggled up on the couch sipping a pumpkin spice latte, only one question remains: what to watch? I’m here to give you some of the best fall classics, perfectly tailored for the new season.
Shows
Gilmore Girls: It would be downright heinous not to begin with Gilmore Girls. The show follows the life of teenage Rory and her young mother Lorelai. With the show’s 7 seasons and 153, 45-minute episodes, Gilmore Girls is the perfect show to binge. The show takes place in a small town, and over half of its episodes are set in the fall. From the unforgettable sweaters, to the amber color scheme, and even the constant pies and hot coffee, Girlmore Girls lends a fall feeling unparalleled by any other show.
Gossip Girl: Looking for a switch from Rory’s cozy highschool experience? Gossip Girl is the perfect opposite. The show dives into the life of the wealthy and privileged: Manhattan’s elite. Drugs, lies, and scandal are the main themes of this show–not including the mind boggling wealth. Gossip Girl gets its name from an online platform used to expose the secrets of the highschool friends (and enemies).
Stranger Things: This final show covers a very important part of fall: Halloween. There is no better way to get into the spooky season than watching a spooky show! Stranger Things is ideal in this regard. It walks the line between SciFi and horror as a group of teens is separated when one of them is taken by an unknown creature.Leaving them all haunted, they embark on a desperate rescue mission growing closer as they discover the impossible.
Movies
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Let’s be real, in movies, Thanksgiving and the rest of fall is often overshadowed by Halloween. That is exactly what makes Charlie Brown so incredible; he will never fail to make the fall feel special. Often referred to as Charlie Brown’s pumpkin patch, the film follows his friend who stakes out a pumpkin patch in hopes of proving his faith in the “Great Pumpkin.”
10 Things I Hate About You: As you’re curled up on the couch alone, what better to fill the void with than someone else’s romance? Or if you have one of your own—I have no room to speak on this—this film is a perfect choice for a date night. This movie speaks for itself, and is one of my personal favorites. Portraying a teen paid to date the ‘undateable’ girl and falling for her in the process this movie shows off some adorable gestures. (if anyone is looking for a hoco proposal inspo!) •
