Rumors about a school uniform requirement for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year have been denied by Principal Kimberly Martin and Assistant Principal Gregory Bargeman. Martin, new to Wilson this year, acknowledged that she had heard the rumors, but did not believe there were any dress code changes. Bargeman unequivocally stated that Wilson students would not have school uniforms.

Up until the 2014-2015 school year, Wilson administrators enforced a dress code that regulated the length of shorts, width of shoulder straps, and the graphics on clothing. After student outcry about alleged gender discrimination in the dress code, the administration decided to stop enforcing it. Now, students are generally only told to change their outfit when their shirts depict gang symbols or illegal substances like marijuana.
Many students were outraged by speculation about the reinstatement of a dress code. However, according to Bargeman, “this rumor happens every year.”
