As the fall season comes to a close we thought it was time for a professional review of the fall sports’ social media accounts. When ranking these profiles, our criteria was based on the aesthetics, functionality of the page, and overall team spirit they garnered. Kudos to everyone running these accounts and, of course, the teams behind them! Without further ado, the rankings of Jackson-Reed’s fall sports Instagrams:
Volleyball 9.5/10: Volleyball seriously has its account down. With its game schedule pinned (check), highlight reels from their games (check), gameday posts (check), and senior photos (check), what does their account not have? It’s appealing, engaging, and fun! The only thing standing in the way of a 10 is their profile profile picture (oof).
Field hockey 9/10: One of the best profiles we saw for sure. Unlike the other pages we saw, it had a cool profile picture (tiger with field hockey sticks). The game schedule was pinned and accompanied by many updates throughout the season. Every game had a theme with the team photos attached. Again, there were adorable senior baby posts for the senior game. Also, field hockey had birthday posts for the players, making their page feel all the more personal!
Girls soccer 8/10: Definitely on the better side of profiles that we viewed. The page was organized well, with their game schedule pinned. Many game photos were featured and there were tons of cute baby photos to commemorate the seniors at their senior night game. The only change we would’ve made is updating their profile picture to something other than our school’s logo.
Boys soccer 8/10: Overall, this account was booming. They had a lot of game-day posts with photos from the games. Bonus points for the pinned schedule (yay). The account was cohesive and organized, however they missed the mark with a boring profile picture.
Cross Country 6/10: Cross Country has some cute senior photos, which is a plus, and a lot of action shots, which are definitely a big plus, but other than that, it’s pretty plain. There isn’t a schedule pinned, and not many posts from this year. If it weren’t for their action shots, Cross Country wouldn’t have found itself this high in the rankings.
Crew 6/10: Crew was one of the few accounts with an actual good profile picture. There were many posts from the season, but no schedule pinned. There was a cohesive grid of photos but they could have used some more diversity in their posts. There were also videos of them in action, which not many accounts seem to include.
Football 3/10: Many things could be improved to raise the football team’s rating. First of all, it was insanely hard to find! We’re not sure why, but we had to ask around just to find the username of their account. There are only a few posts on their account, with no game schedule presented. No wonder no one shows up for the games–no one knows when they are! The posts they do have are just random themed game day posts and it can’t be said that these posts are particularly aesthetically pleasing either.
Cheer 2/10: For a team that is supposed to be full of cheer and joy, their Instagram is the complete opposite. A cheer profile shouldn’t have only five total posts in their profile with only two from this year. There wasn’t anything special about their profile and it wasn’t it. •
